Since the second half of the last century, professional ethicswhether more or less developedhave been an integral part of a profession's identity (this trend is particularly evident in the helping professions). At the same time, it is a type of cognition and knowledge that, by its nature, falls not only within the specific expertise of a given profession but also has its roots in philosophy and fundamental ethics. The aim of this course is to introduce students to professional ethics with regard to its philosophical and fundamental ethical foundations (the vertical aspect of the profession), to bring to light and discuss (through seminars complementing lectures) professional values, norms, and ethical dilemmas, with a specific focus on the professional ethics of the helping professions and professional ethics in education and andragogy.
