competences in the scope of the course objective
Prerequisites

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam, Seminar Work

Students will demonstrate that they can work in a team. They will work in teams to develop a quantitative research project which they will present at the seminar. After feedback, they will complete or revise the project and submit it for assessment. The quantitative research project must include: 1. the title of the project (must correspond to the content). 2. Formulation of the research problem (topic). This part must end with the theoretical background of the chosen problem (topic), i.e. students' assumptions about the state of the chosen problem (topic). Students must justify why they are starting from such an assumption (based on theory and/or practice - experience). The theoretical starting point does not have to be a grand theory; it is an idea about the problem (topic) under study. 3. Either: a starting hypothesis and a working hypothesis. The initial hypothesis must be derived from the theoretical starting point. The working hypotheses must be based on the initial hypothesis, the variables must be operationalized (indicators), and the operationalization must be justified on the basis of theory and/or practice. The hypothesis need not be about the relationship between two variables. Or: instead of hypotheses, you can make so-called research assumptions (see Appendix C in KUBÁTOVÁ, Helena. Sociological research for andragogists. Olomouc: VUP, 2013), but in any case the operationalisation of concepts in research assumptions must follow. 4. Decisions about the population and the sample. Justification of this decision. 5. The constructed data collection technique - it must be a questionnaire. All questions in the questionnaire must be related to the working hypotheses or research assumptions. 6. Pre-research and any corrections to the questionnaire. 7. list of literature used. This structure is mandatory. The project must include all of the above sections. Pay attention to section 3, in which you have a choice. Project length: maximum 18,000 characters with spaces, that is 10 standard pages. The maximum scope must not be exceeded, I do not set a minimum scope. Formal requirements: names of all project authors, team name, date. Do not create any introductory page. Calibri font, font size 11, line spacing 1.5 (questionnaire may be line spaced 1). Number the pages. The writing of the project should be based on the literature and, if justified, on e.g. newspaper articles or other sources. Sources used must be cited and referenced according to ISO 690, electronic citations according to ISO 690-2. Internet sources must be verifiable, in such a way that any reader can find them again at any time. For more details on the standards and the method of citation and referencing, see e.g. KUBÁTOVÁ, HELENA. Handbook for the author of a thesis. Olomouc: Palacký University, 2009.
