The course introduces the basics of cognitive science, an interdisciplinary approach to studying the human mind and its processes such as memory, consciousness, emotions and language. The course content introduces the history of cognitive science, methodological approaches and theoretical concepts. The course will also include selected problems of cognitive sciences in the form of so-called "case studies". Various methods used in field and laboratory research in cognitive science will also be presented. The course will focus on cognitive philosophy, cognitive anthropology, cognitive religious studies, neuroeconomics and neuroscience.

Assessment methods and criteria

Attendance at lectures; reading of required literature; passing the credit/exam in the form of a final test. The course will be completed in the form of a test in the credit week. Within the test, the student will be able to get a maximum of 20 points, while a minimum of 12 points, i.e. 60%, is required to successfully pass. The test will consist of two areas: 1) Knowledge of the lectured topics! 2) Knowledge of the required literature in the form of the publication: Petrů, Marek. (2008). Fyziologie mysli?
