Course content
1. Integration of immigrants: basic terms and concepts. 2. Dimensions of integration, measurement of integration. 3. Multi-level setting of integration policies. 4. Main instruments and measures of local integration policies. 5. Examples of national models and their local applications.

Learning outcomes
Learning objectives of the course Interculturalism in the City: 1. To explore the social, cultural and economic reality of the city in the context of diversity and coexistence of different groups of inhabitants 2. To understand the concept of multi-level governance (influence of transnational, national and local policies) in the context of interculturality in the city 3. Analyse political strategies and public policies of selected cities aimed at inclusion and intercultural dialogue in the urban environment 4. Understand the influence of urban planning on the formation of interpersonal relations, segregation and integration of different communities.
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to define concepts related to the integration of immigrants at the local level and to interpret the results of this process with regard to the setting of specific integration policies at the supranational, national and local level. The student will also be able to critically evaluate interculturality at the social, economic, cultural, political, urban level of urban functioning.
Prerequisites
The course builds on the courses "Introduction to Migration Theory" and "Geographical Aspects of Migration and Integration". Adequate initial knowledge is therefore assumed. The ability to understand written English text (academic articles, book chapters) is also assumed.

Requirements: 1) Attendance: 75% 2) Seminar work 3) Exam Due to the requirement to write a seminar work and the desirable connection to the courses "Introduction to Migration Theory" and "Geographical Aspects of Migration and Integration of Foreigners", the course is suitable for students from the 2nd year onwards.
