Course content
1. Brief review of fundamental knowledge about international migration and its theories. 2. Integration of immigrants: integration policies. Main integration models in destination countries. 3. Integration of immigrants: key terms and concepts. Dimensions od integration. Measuring integration. 4. The integration policy of EU. 5. Canada as an example of multicultural model. 6. France as an example of assimilation. 7. Germany as an example of differential-exclusion model. 8. Czechia as an example of newly setted integration policy. 9. The integration of immigrants at local level. 10. Student's presentations.

Learning outcomes
The aim of this course is to deepen the acquired knowledge about the process of integration of immigrants into mainstream society and about its various aspects on the example of both European and non-European countries. The main emphasis - after the necessary theoretical introduction - will be given on specific policies adopted in particular areas of integration and on their results, including the impacts on different groups of immigrants.

Assessment methods and criteria
Seminar Work

75% class attendance. Submission of written essay on a chosen topic (10 standard pages). Presentation of the essay and of its conclusions in the class (20 min).
