This course builds on the course "Methodological Principles of Sociological Research," which examines the basic theoretical approaches: positivism and interpretivism. Quantitative and qualitative research strategies are grounded in these epistemological foundations, which has implications for the application of specific research designs (cross-sectional; longitudinal; comparative; case studies). Students demonstrate their knowledge of research methods used in studies within the subject area of their dissertation project. Following the Dissertation Seminar, they submit a thorough review of studies that align with the research strategy chosen for their dissertation project (quantitative or qualitative), supplemented by a partial review of studies from the non-selected strategy.
