1. Migration, globalisation, minorities, rationalization, citizenship. 2. Inter-cultural perspective of cultural identity; identity under globalization; ethnic, cultural and national identity (cohesion and conflict) 3. Narrative identity; discourse and identity construction; theories of identity in symbolic interactionism

Learning outcomes
|
The course dealing with the up-to-date themes of cultural anthropology helps to deepen the knowledge of the chosen topics, it develops the ability to critically reflect the theoretical-methodological framework of the texts under study.
After successful passing the course the student will be able to - interpret and critically reflect the theoretical-methodological framework of the chosen anthropological themes - apply the knowledge and skills on the student´s own creative and independent work -critically discuss the topics - process a scholarly text, gain orientation in the given topic, work both with the Czech and foreign scholarly literature - apply the interpretative schemata and comparisons within the relevant framework.

The prerequisite to master this course is a continuous preparation for the final colloquim.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Student performance, Seminar Work
The doctorate students study the literature continuously, submit the researched books to the tutor. They develop their understanding of the texts as well as their critical thinking. A written output is a seminar paper based on one of the chosen topics (15 norm-pages, due in on the last week of the semester). Each of the students presents their seminar work in a final colloquium. Final consolidation: colloquium (including the continuous assessment; an oral presentation; submitted research; a seminar work; final discussion.
