Course content
This course is focused on important personalities of contemporary Latin American literature such as J.L.Borges and other renovators from the period of the years 30' and 40'. Also representives of 'boom' literature, like G. García Márquez, Mario Vargas Llosa, José Donoso, Carlos Fuentes and others, are included. The other topics are for example the issue of fictive worlds in the books of Juan Carlos Onetti or Juan Rulfo or the fundamental aspects of magical realism of Alejo Carpentier. Part of the course is dedicated to literary analyses as well. Original texts are analyzed from different points of view such as topic, plot, characters, imagination, language, style etc.

Learning outcomes

1. regular attendance and active participation in lectures and seminars 2. preparation for each class, knowledge of the analysed text
