Course content
|
The course will aim to deepen the material of the most important eras and movements such as Spanish Romanticism, Post-Romanticism, Realism-Naturalism, Generation 98, Generation 1914, Avant-garde, Generation 27, Civil War literature and pre-war drama. The course will also introduce the post-war generations ("Tremendismo", "Realismo social"), exile literature, new tendencies in theatre (absurd theatre, group work), the post-dictatorship period ("Transición", "Generación Nocilla") and contemporary literary movements (metafiction, autofiction, "microrrelato", etc.). In the section dedicated to Latin American literature, the following topics will be discussed: From Classicism to Romanticism: reflection on the crisis of the colonial system, the period of the struggle for independence and the first romantic movements, Romanticism (Civilization and Barbarism, Gaucho Poetry, Hispano-American Modernism, Avant-garde, Regionalism, the so-called "nueva novela hispanoamericana" (boom), "post-boom", contemporary poetry, etc. The individual periods of development will be introduced to the audience through reading excerpts from the works of their most important representatives - Contemporary Novelists

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of Spanish and Hispano-American literature at the level of a bachelor's degree in Spanish philology.
