The student participates in the preparation and execution of a research project, whether conducted within their home department, another unit at the faculty or university, or an external organization. The student should consult with their supervisor beforehand regarding the suitability of joining a specific project; priority should always be given to projects that contribute to the timely and successful completion of the student's own doctoral dissertation. The student reviews the project documentation and instructions provided by the principal investigator, prepares (or contributes to the preparation of) grant applications, defines the objectives and scope of their specific research component, and plans their activities and deliverablesincluding timelines and budget requirements. Furthermore, the student documents their activities and drafts materials for the final project report. When necessary, the student should consult with the project's principal investigator, their supervisor, and the course guarantor. This course awards credits primarily for organizational activities related to the preparation and execution of a project. Substantive research activities and project outputs (such as conference participation, research stays abroad, publications, or research conducted for the doctoral dissertation) are credited through other, specific courses. This course may be enrolled in multiple times (variants 1-9). The standard format involves the student participating as a co-investigator in a project funded through a student grant competition. In cases where the student's role or the nature of the project entails a greater volume or complexity of work (e.g., serving as the principal investigator or working on a project funded by an external entity), it is possible to complete two or more variants of the course simultaneously. The program guarantor assesses the level of difficulty based on input from the project's principal investigator and the supervisor. The guarantor grants the course credit once the project has been successfully completedor the student's contribution to it has been fulfilledupon confirmation from the principal investigator and following consultation with the supervisor.

Learning outcomes
|
The goal is to increase student motivation to actively prepare projects - whether through student grant competitions or by participating in external projects alongside their supervisors - and to help them acquire practical skills in project preparation and execution, thereby gaining professional experience in the field.
The student is familiar with the project cycle, understands project documentation and research financial planning, is able to formulate research objectives and outputs, draft a grant application, report on professional activities, and contribute to a scientific team.
