Learning outcomes
|
The course aims to introduce to the students the basics, development and contemporary situation of the cognitive linguistics. The course is mainly devoted to the principles and history of Cognitive Linguistics and its place in the world of linguistics nowadays, including its relation to the generative grammar. The main goal of the lecture is to equip students with a fundamental tool box for studying conceptual metaphor and metonymy, cognitive semantic or cognitive grammar.
1. Understanding the principles of cognitive linguistics and its place in the world of linguistics 2. Understanding the importance of cognitive linguistics within the historical development of linguistics 3. Understanding the relation between conceptual metaphor and metonymy, cognitive semantic or cognitive grammar 4. Ability to apply cognitive linguistics to translation and phraseology studies
