Course content
|
This course is focused on historical evolution of Portuguese language in some basic period: from Latin to the Galician-Portugues language, Galician-Portugues language 1200 - 1350, the evolution of Portuguese after separation of Galician in 14th century till today.It describes the evolution of Portuguese at the level of phonetics, morphlogy and vocabulary. Text in ancient Portuguese will be read and analysed.

Learning outcomes
|
The goal of this course is to make the student acquainted with the historical evolution of Portuguese language in some basic periods from Latin to modern Portuguese. It also offer a brief survey of classification of Romance languages and of basic differences among them.
Students improve their ability of critical language analyses from the point of view of diachronic linguistics.
