Course content
Seminary deals vith dramatic works (G. Vicente), poetry (L. de Camoes), romantic writers (C. C. Branco) and the generation of the 70s (E. de Queirós), as well as to some important figures of the 20th century (F. Pessoa, F. Espanca, J. Saramago aj.). Within the history of the Brazilian literature, we follow the formation of the national literature in a historical perspective. Courses are based particularly on the narrative of the 19th and the 20th centuries which has been translated into Czech (J. de Alencar, M. de Assis, M. de Andrade, G. Ramos, J. G. Rosa, C. Lispector).

Learning outcomes
The subject acquaints students with main trends in the evolution of Portuguese literature, from their beginnings up to the present time. Attention is paid to dramatic works (G. Vicente), poetry (L. de Camoes), romantic writers (C. C. Branco) and the generation of the 70s (E. de Queirós), as well as to some important figures of the 20th century (F. Pessoa, F. Espanca, J. Saramago, etc.).
Students acquire a basic survey of main evolutionary trends in the history of Portuguese and Brazilian literature. They get acquainted with the creation of some of the most important authors. Students discuss the subject matter and independently approach the interpretation of texts.
