Course content
1. Expressing modality and its influence on textual interpretation 2. Expressing aspect and its influence on textual interpretation 3. Expressing verbal gender and its influence on textual interpretation 4. Textual coherence and its means 5. Textual cohesion - textual connectors in Portuguese 6. Linguistic textual analysis - influence of phonetic and orthographic elements on textual analysis 7. Linguistic textual analysis - influence of morphological elements on textual analysis 8. Linguistic textual analysis - influence of syntactic elements on textual analysis 9. Linguistic textual analysis - influence of lexical elements on textual analysis 10. Structuring specific texts - informal texts (personal letters) 11. Structuring specific texts - formal texts (administrative letters) 12. Structuring specific texts - formal texts (specialized research text)

Learning outcomes
The aim of this class is to learn the following grammatical phenomena based on selected normative grammars. These will be further exemplified through exercises in language analysis of chosen texts.
Students will improve their written expression-the special attention is paid to the ability of creation of larger coherent text.
