Course content
- Analysis and Translation of Legal Texts - Analysis and critique of legal translations, EU official documents, regulations, and rules. - Translations of contracts, wills, legal terminology, equivalence, and unambiguity. - Editing and proofreading of legal texts

Learning outcomes
Using practical text examples, the course explores various translation methods and discusses the use of appropriate functional styles, cultural specificities of the text, and text pragmatics. Topics covered include the lexical level in language description, lexical meaning in translation, the cognitive approach, the rendering of specialized information, terminology, and terminology management in translation. - Analysis and Translation of Legal Texts - Analysis and critique of legal translations, EU official documents, regulations, and rules. - Translations of contracts, wills, legal terminology, equivalence, and unambiguity. - Editing and proofreading of legal texts
Students will improve their skills translating literary and musical texts from Portuguese to their mother tongue.
Prerequisites
Advanced knowlege of Portughese.
