Course content
|
The student learns basic terminology of lexicology and semantics (lexeme, sememe), definitions of basic units of vocabulary (word), the components of meaning of a word and the rules of their combinations. Special attention is paid to evolution and alternation of the meaning of a word and also to stratification of vocabulary according to various criteria (temporal, social, geographical).

Learning outcomes
|
The course is focused on the introduction to basic terminology of lexicology and semantics, the structure and evolution of Portuguese vocabulary, processions of vocabulary enrichment and word meaning. The student should improve his ability of semantic and lexical analysis of a word, learn to distinguish between connotation and denotation and master some basic collocations.
Enlargement of vocabulary and the ability of its systematization according to different criterions.
