Course content
This course is focused on Brazilian music. It deals with the significant characteristics and the evolution of regional musical styles influenced by Amerindian, African and European forms. Attention is also paid to the main aspects of Brazilian social and political history, which form the background of the musical production.

Learning outcomes
This course, following the course "Brazilian Life and Institutions", is focused on Brazilian music.
Besides new knowledge of Brazilian culture, at the end of the semester the students should better understand the modern Brazilian society, its culture and way of life.

The student's active participation in the course and fulfilment of all the requirements set by the teacher during the course.
