Course content
- Indigenous peoples - Discovery and colonization of Brazil - Colonial period - 16th and 17th centuries - 18th century and the gold rush - Independence and the First Empire - The Second Empire and the abolition of slavery - The Old Republic - The government of G. Vargas - The government of Juscelino Kubitschek - The military dictatorship - Democratic development after the fall of the military regime to the present day

Learning outcomes
The aim of this one-semester course is to present the historical development of Brazil, focusing on major milestones of its political and cultural life since the discovery of the Brazilian territory in the early 16th century up to the present. The course is taught in Czech.
Students will gain a comprehensive overview of Brazilian history and culture.

Mark, Oral exam, Written exam
