Course content
1. Introduction - requirements, legal norms, terminology, religious studies discourse 2. From the Palaeolithic to the Neolithic, history of religion in the Czech territory 3. National religion (Egypt, Mesopotamia, Canaan, Europe and pre-Columbian America) 4. Religion of the ethical turn (Buddhism and Old India, Taoism, Confucianism and Old China) 5. Greece 6. Judaism 7. Bible 8. Christianity (development, holy days, church administration) 9. Islam 10. Sects, sectarianism and new religions 11. Spirituality of physical activity, religion in kinanthropology and recreation and leisure studies

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to provide the students with a general overview of the history, cults and phenomena of selected religions and sects, types of spirituality and religious thinking. Information about this course was translated to English within the project Internationalization of the Faculty of Physical Culture, Palacký University, Olomouc, No. CZ.1.07/2.2.00/28.0028, co-funded by the European Social Fund and the Government of the Czech Republic.
Upon completion of the course the student: - Is able to characterize basic world religions and basic types of spirituality, - Reflects on his/her relationships with religion and spirituality, - Has practical experience with a certain religious direction - excursion as a part of a seminar paper, - Is able to work with basic literature of various world religions and with religious studies literature.
Prerequisites
In terms of the content, the course is included in social sciences and builds on the area of socio-cultural and philosophic kinanthropology. Therefore, the students are expected to have knowledge of this area.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam, Essay, Student performance, Dialog, Seminar Work

Participation in lectures (two permitted absences, individual assignment in case of more absences), required reading and seminar paper, seminar presentation (to be assigned on a lecture).
