Course content
1. Ski touring and freeride SNB equipment 2. Climbing up hill in alpine terraing on skis or snowshoes 3. Freeriding 4. Snow and processes affecting the stability of the snow pack 5. Planning and preparation of the tour 6. Avalanche beepers 7. Other avalanche gear 8. First aid in winter mountains 9. Avalanche rescue 10.Rescue simulation 11. Geography 12. Learning outcomes
The students will be introduced to ski-touring and ski-alpineering as an attractive activity combining skiing with mountaineering. Sport and aesthetic values of ski touring are connected to nature friendly sport philosophy through a variety of activities and developed knowledge and skills. Information about this course was translated to English within the project Internationalization of the Faculty of Physical Culture, Palacký University, Olomouc, No. CZ.1.07/2.2.00/28.0028, co-funded by the European Social Fund and the Government of the Czech Republic.
After the completion of the course the student will: - have mastered the basic practical procedures for managing the avalanche and injury risks - be prepared to apply knowledge concerning safety and risk in relation to the changeability of winter mountain situations - have mastered the basic skills in climbing and descending on skis or snowshoes and a snowboard in off piste alpine terrain - have learned the basics of navigation in winter mountain terrain - be able to use the avalanche prevention and rescue equipment
Prerequisites
Prior to signing up for the course, completion of Theory of outdoor recreation and Winter outdoor course KPZP1 is highly recommended dominantly for safety reasons.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance, Didactic Test, Systematic Observation of Student

1. Demonstration of ability to safely ascend and descend in moderate alpine non-glacier terrain on skis or snowshoes 2. Active participation in the training 3. Demonstration of the basic knowledge and skill in avalanche prevention 4. 500 words written report from the course summarizing the student's personal experience 5. Team preparation and presentation of a workshop or lecture on an agreed on topic during the course (can range from gear to meteorology, geography, health risks, first aid, etc...)
