1. Spa introduction - definitions, role, spas and tourism. 2. Historical development of spa tourism. 3. Typology of Czech spa resorts, most significant spas in Europe and in the world. 4. Spa tourism as an economic systém, benefits to the society, legislation around spa tourism. 5. Organization of spas, types of spas treatment. 6. Spa products, services, procedures. 7. Wellness - hotel, spas, beauty wellness. 8. Wellness centres - equipment, locality, certification. 9. Other supplementary services - regeneratin, sport, leisure.

Learning outcomes
|
The course focuses on spas and wellness as two specific forms of tourism. Spa tourism is analysed as a specific field including its history, development, role in the society and economic benefits. The students will learn about the organization of spas, spa topography, spa products, services and procedures including spa wellness. Information about this course was translated to English within the project Internationalization of the Faculty of Physical Culture, Palacký University, Olomouc, No. CZ.1.07/2.2.00/28.0028, co-funded by the European Social Fund and the Government of the Czech Republic.
The student will know the main spa towns and resorts in the Czech Republic. The student will know the main indications - i.e. what is cured in which spa. The student will know the content and meaning of the term "wellness".

Prerequisites
|
Basic principles of tourism - subject of bachelor 's study. Knowledge of basic terminology and orientation in the area of tourism.

Requirements Participation in at least one direct teaching session. Semester paper on a given topic.
