Course content
|
- Textual linguistics and stylistics, their position within the linguistic disciplines, subject and methods of study, the basic categories (language and speech utterance, text, context, style, communication). - Textual linguistics and communication. Text as a common object of study of texttual linguistics and stylistics. Textual linguistics and pragmatics. - Text as a communicative unit. Multiple structure of text. Basic characteristics of the text. Text typology. Text and its constitutive characteristics (cohesion, coherence, acceptability, intentionality, situationality, intertextuality). - Articulation of the text (horizontal, vertical). Punctuation as a device of graphic articulation of the text. - Stylistic characteristics of language devices (audio, morphological, syntactic, lexical). - Text typology (scientific style, the language of administrative texts, artistic style). - Functional analysis of texts. The content of a text.

Learning outcomes
|
Text analysis in terms of style. Functional and stylish characteristic of the linguistic devices, distinctive features of the stylish value of the linguistic devices and of the expressive structure of the text.
Students learn the text analysis from the point of stylistic view, acquire the knowledge of the methods of functional stylistics. Students are able to create a text corresponding to the communication situation, to the purpose of the author and to the rules of discourse.

Mark, Oral exam
Active participation in lectures and seminars, reading assigned literary and scientific texts, exam preparation, passing the exam.
