Course content
1. What is syntax. Types of sentences. Syntagma. 2. Basic composition couples. Subject and predicate. Verbal-nominal predicate and nominal phrase. 3. Direct object, complement, indirect object, adverbial (complementi di tempo, di luogo, di specificazione, di allontanamento, di privazione, etc.) 4. Attribute and apposition. 5. What is a compound sentence. 6. Coordinate and subordinate. 7. Main sentence. 8. Completive sentences 9. Causal clauses and purpose-driven clauses 10. Consequential and concessive clauses 11. Conditional and restrictive clauses 12. Temporal and adversative clauses 13. Comparative and exclusion clauses 14. Exclusive and assessment clauses 15. Relative and comment clauses 16. Sentence analysis and compound sentence analysis 17. Neutral word order and marked word order

Learning outcomes
The aim of this course is to provide understanding of the Italian language syntactic system.
The graduates of this class will know the specificities of compound sentences in Italian.

Active participation in exercises, preparation for each class. The exam tests knowledge of the class contents.
