Course content
Introduction to the history of Italian art, with an emphasis on representatives of each approach. The theoretical part is complemented slide show. Sources and literature on the topic. - Late Duecento and early Trecento, Pietro Cavallini, Giotto di Bondone - journey to the Italian Renaissance. - Gothic tendencies - Siena, Pisa, etc. - The first generation of artists of the Italian Renaissance - painting. - The first generation of artists of the Italian Renaissance - architecture and sculpture. - Artistic Patronage of the Medici family. - Rome as an art center. - The Venice. - Mannerism and the formation of courtly art. - Tuscany and Florence at the time of the first family of Medici Grand Dukes

Learning outcomes
- The objective of this lesson is to acquaint students with the most important representatives of Italian art and art movements. - This lesson is the involvement of Italian art in the European context. - Italian art in Central Europe and in the Czech Republic.
Students will acquire basic knowledge of the sources and the literature on the topic - Student will learn the basic problems of art in Italy. The student will be able to undertake independent research. Student will be able to critically evaluate sources, to recognize the relationship between the historical development and the development of culture and art.
