Course content
This course focuses on stylistics with an emphasis on scientific, rhetorical and literary function styles. As soon as the students become familiar with the theory of function styles, the objective and the subjective stylistic factors, the stylistic aspects of text analysis and the stylistic features of the means of expression, the emphasis will be placed on the stylistic analysis of texts belonging to different function styles. The ability to apply the theoretical knowledge of stylistics in communication, mostly in a form of a spoken and a written scientific text, will be crucial. The participants will further become familiar with the most common syntactic and stylistic shortcomings of Czech translations of scientific and literary texts in the context of the particularities of language structure of the Romance languages.

Learning outcomes
The objective of the course is to deepen the students? knowledge and skills from the field of stylistics, to learn how to characterize the texts of the individual function styles and to improve to compose both written and spoken texts in native language.
to develop the ability to compose a written text of a particular function style comparative approach to a Czech and a foreign text to improve speaking and writing

Successful termination of the subject Czech for Romanists 1.
