Course content
1. Forms of contemporary literary events in France, writers, critical public, publishing houses, the Academy, literary cafés, newspapers and magazines, literary prizes 2. Basic developmental tendencies in contemporary French literature 3. Evolution of the French novel at the end of the 20th and beginning of the 21st century 4. Contemporary French poetry 5. French drama at the turn of the century. Tradition and originality 6. Crisis of values - popular mass production on the verge of literary junk 7. Contemporary French authors of non-French origin

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to familiarize students in detail with the development of French literature from the 1980s to the present and to guide them to an independent literary-theoretical analysis of key texts.
deeper understanding of the development of contemporary French literary creation against the background of social and cultural events deepening the ability to work with literary terminology improving the ability to interpret a text as a meaning structure, applying various historical and contemporary methods of literary analysis to specific texts developing the ability to engage in professional polemics

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam, Seminar Work

Completion of the course is conditional on the student's presence in class, systematic preparation for individual lessons, active participation in seminars, and study of relevant professional literature. The exam tests orientation in the literary history of the given time period and in literary theory.
