The course covers the following topics: History and conception of stylistics Relationship between lingvistics and stylistics Stylistics and rhetoric The most recent trends in stylistics Styles and theri definition

Learning outcomes
The objective of this course is to make the students familiar with the basics of French stylistics, both from synchronous and diachronous points of view. The topics covered in the lectures are illustrated on texts and exercises.
1/ to understand the basic issues of French stylistics 2/ to be able to apply the acquired knowledge to the exercises and text analysis 3/ to develop the ability to analyse the French styles

Oral exam, Written exam

1/ Regular attendance and active participation in the lectures and seminars 2/ Preparation for the classes, knowledge of the texts to be analysed The exam will test the understanding of the basic issues of French stylistics.
