Course content
|
A lecture and a seminar that follows provide the students with the basic knowledge about the theoretical issues of morphology with real examples and contrastive view along with Czech. The students get acquainted with the system of French morphology, the classification of the parts of speech, their forms and grammatical categories. The question of standardization is also mentioned. A special focus is put on French determiners, the use of articles in particular. French adverbs and the semantics of French prepositions are explained in detail. The function of words and word forms covered, with a subsequent contrastive analysis, makes the students understand better the structure of French language and the aspects resulting from the typological difference of Czech and French. The lecture is in French, Czech serves to illustrate the corresponding comparative views or to explain the more difficult issues.

Learning outcomes
|
This course complements the subject Selected topics from French morphology (VKFRM, VKFM) and its objective is to make the students familiar with the morphology of French language in a comprehensive way. The students get acquainted with the French system of morphology, the system of parts of speech, their forms and grammatical categories. The issue of codification and language norm is also covered. A special attention is paid to french determiners, mainly the use of definite and indefinite articles. French adverbs and the semantics of French preposition are explained in detail.
Upon completion of the 2-semestre course, the student should understand clearly the theoretical and practical issues of morphology and should be able to contrast the morphological issues with his or her mother tongue. Upon completion, the student knows the structure of the individual parts of speech and is able to use the corresponding words in accordance to their morphological norm, which is a necessary condition to a good, accurate and competent use of French language in all communicative situations.

It is supposed that the student has passed the subject Selected topics from French morphology (VKFRM, VKFM).

The successful completion of this course is conditioned by active participation and fulfillment of all the requirements set by the teacher.
