Course content

The course will cover the following topics: 1. French language writing authors in America and the specificity of their production 2. French language written literature in the USA and Canada 3. Haitian literature 4. French language writing authors in South America 5. French language writing women writers; the topics and language of their expression and its peculiarity

Learning outcomes
|
The objective of the course is to make the students familiar with the history of the literature written in French on the American continent, the main authors and their principal works.
understanding of the rules of co-existence of literatures in different languages in the American context, on the social and cultural background perfection of the ability to work with literary terminology improvement of the ability to interpret a text as a structure of meaning, apply different historical and current methods of literary analysis on particular texts development of the ability to discuss a professional matter

Student performance, Seminar Work
1. regular attendance and active participation in the seminars 2. preparation on each class, knowledge of the text to be analysed The exam will test the knowledge of the covered francophone authors and their works.
