The course will cover the following topics: History of Belgium from the oldest times up to now Francophone culture in Belgium and its most important representatives History of Switzerland from the oldest times up to now Francophone culture in Switzerland its most important representatives History and culture of Luxembourg History and the contemporary issues of The Principality of Monaco

Learning outcomes
|
The objective of this course is to make the students familiar with the history and culture of the European francophone countries. The emphasis is put mainly on the most recent history and on the status of the francophone culture in multilingual countries, where it must co-exist with other language cultures.
The students will learn the knowledge and skills in the following scope and they will be able to prove them upon completion of the course in the exam. The students are able to: explain the history of the European francophone countries describe the culture of the francophone countries work with texts from the individual francophone countries

Student performance
1. Regular attendance and active participation in the lectures and seminars 2. Preparation for the classes 3. A presentation The credit test will test the understanding of the basic issues from the history and culture of the European francophone countries.
