The student, step by step, gets to know the basic literary terminology and the critical studies relating generally to the role of comic and laughter in the literary production (definition of the comic in Aristotle's Poetics, Stendhal's essay on laughter, Bachtin's conception; Sylvie Richterová: indentification of the positional variant of laughter "laughter as opposed to non-laughter"; Vladimír Borecký and his Theory of comic). Futhermore, the particularities of the comic elements across the literary genres are defined and the development of comic and its understanding in different literary movements and particular authors of the Romance literatures is observed.
