Course content
The birth of first verses from medieval Latin verse in Romance vernaculars and metric rules of classical Romance types of verse. Metrical forms (sonetto, ballade, canzone, etc., verses of the epics), genres of classical poetry to Romanticism (genres and verses in Occitanic poetry, verses in preachy and epic poetry, bucolical poetry, Renaissance romances, etc.). The creation of free verse and of forms of experimental poetry in the context of the development of the bourgeois society. Notes to the aesthetics of rhyme and to the conventions of Czech translations of Romance poetry.

Learning outcomes
The course expounds the foundation and the development of Romance versification.
Capability to compare the evolution of metric forms and poetry genres between the literature of student?s specialisation and other Romance literatures.
Prerequisites
Excellent knowledge of at least one Romance literature. Excellent knowledge of at least one Romance language.
