Course content
|
1. History of narratology as a modern literary science discipline. 2. Definition of basic concepts (narrative, story, narrative, etc.) taking into account the history of narratological research. 3. Event, motive, deep structure of the story. 4. Category of space, narrated world, text structuring, chronotope. 5. Categories of time, story time, narrative time, sequence, duration, frequency. 6. Character categories, characterization, typology. 7. Narrator categories, types of narrators, types of narrative speeches. 8. Categories of focalization, types of focalization. 9. Reader category, literary competence. 10. Narrative boundaries, intertextuality, dialogicity. 11. Meaningful construction of a narrative text. 12. The relationship between fictional and non-fictional narration.

Learning outcomes
|
The objective of the course is to enrich the student?s knowledge about naratology. The course is focused on description and analysis of the narrative structure.
The student will enrich his or her knowledge of narratology, is able to apply it on a particular text and provide relevant arguments in an academic discussion and to present a paper.
