Corneille - heroic idealism of his tragedies, glory as a principle of action. "Preciosité" - social and literary phenomenon. Realistic and burlesque novel. Classicism. Creative and conformist classicism. Boileau. Racine. Molier; etre a paraître. La Fontaine - gnoseological pessimism - biological optimism. Pascal - originality and unity of his thoughts. Mme de Lafayette.

Learning outcomes
|
The objective of this course is to make the students familiar with the main literary movements of the 17th century and the authors. The seminars are focused on a detailed literary-theoretical analysis of the principal works.
