Course content
|
Seminar Topics: Impairment of life, death, definition of death, evidence of death and donor's program. Post-mortem and autopsy. Vital reactions and post-mortem changes. Sudden death. The death of an infant and small children and determining the time of the death. Injury caused by a blunt, sharp object; injuries caused by a firearm. Suffocation, injury caused by electric current. Traffic accidents. Assault, fight, fall, injuries by animals and injuries in aircraft crashes. Violence towards a child, infanticide committed by mother. Identification. Narcotics, toxicology.

Learning outcomes
|
The optional subject Forensic Medicine is focused on such areas that will help the students orientate themselves in this field, understand the necessity of mutual cooperation with other branches and realize the uniqueness of forensic medicine in the medical-legal field. The main aim of this subject is that the students should be able to examine the corpse, examine the blood samples and bodily liquids, they should know how to test the level of alcohol in blood and finally they should be familiar with the process of taking materials for toxicological and serological examination.
Students who have completed this subject will gain the basic medical-biological knowledge in the field of forensic medicine essential for the application of criminal law.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Mark
In order to get the credit the students must have a regular seminar attendance in the scope set by the seminar leader. The subject is completed by an oral exam.
