Learning outcomes
|
The course introduces students to fundamental economic principles and their application in the evaluation of law, regulation, and public policy. It covers law-and-economics approaches to decision-making, economic efficiency, the design of legal rules, and the unintended effects of regulation. Students will also learn about key macroeconomic indicators and methods of measuring economic performance, the role of the state in a market economy, the banking system, and the instruments of monetary and fiscal policy. Additional topics include investment decision-making and financial markets, international trade and European economic integration, human capital and the labour market, and the economic dimensions of crime. The course emphasises understanding the economic consequences of legal and policy decisions and applying economic reasoning to the analysis of specific societal issues.
Students will understand fundamental economic principles and learn to apply them when analysing economic / legal situations. They will acquire the ability to formulate problems accurately, present their views, and develop arguments that take economic considerations into account. They will also develop critical and economically oriented thinking.

To complete the course, students must actively participate in seminars to the extent specified by the seminar instructor and successfully pass the examination. Throughout the course, students are required to work with the course materials available in the MOODLE e-learning environment, following the instructor's guidance.
