Lecture topics: Introduction, basic terms: Europe, politics, philosophy Socrates and Plato (Republic) Plato (Laws) Aristotle Political theories in the Hellenistic period Patrology and political philosophy of late antiquity Political philosophy of scholasticism I Political philosophy of scholasticism II Renaissance political philosophy Notable representatives of modern political philosophy Political theories of 19th century Modern political philosophy in 20th century

Learning outcomes
The subject European Political Thought introduces students especially into the historical background of philosophy, politics, political theory, as well as to the general and specific characteristics of the cultural and civilizational features of Europe during its history until the 21st century. Students attending this subject will gain the knowledge in the areas of the political philosophy, European political ideology and the history of the European political culture.
Students who have completed this course will gain knowledge in the areas of political philosophy, European political ideologies and history of European political culture.
Prerequisites
The completion of this course is not conditioned upon completion of any other courses.

It is essential that those students who would like to get the credit must have attendance within the scope set by the seminar teacher and they also must succeed in the exam.
