Course content
|
1. Introduction to the EU 2. History of European Integration I. (from the ECSC to the EU) 3. History of European Integration II. (from the EU to the Lisbon Treaty) 4. EU Enlargement 5. Actors of European Integration 6. Economic and Monetary Union 7. EU as a Global Actor The seminars cover current issues of European Integration. The topics would be selected in accordance with students. It could be e.g. rise of Euroscepticism, Brexit, rule of law, migration crisis, conflicts out of EU border, climate change etc.

Learning outcomes
|
The course objective is to deepen students'knowledge of the European integration, which has a significant impact on the Czech legal order. From broad general perspective the EU membership affects almost all areas of life in the Czech Republic. The historical and political science approach is focused on the context, in which the law operates. The course covers selected topics from EU history and policies and it also discusses current issues of the EU development after the adoption of the Lisbon Treaty.
The students get knowledge about the EU and its differences to other international organizations, about its development and enlargement, about the actors of European Integration and selected policies. The course deepens students'analytical skills.
