Aims of the subject / students will be able to: Define the concept of multicultural education, intercultural education and other related concepts Formulate and justify the objectives of multicultural education Characterize the minority and its specifics Assess minority and majority relations in their coexistence Specify their own culture, its values, perceive the values of other people/groups Clarify the importance of theories related to the coexistence of different groups of people To clarify the position of minorities and majorities, to understand the possibilities and difficulties of their cooperation in the social life of the country Apply the theories acquired during the course to education and pedagogy

Presumed competencies: Upon completion of the subject the students will be able to: Accept the concept of multiculturalism in various perspectives, Recognize and evaluate their own cultural values and recognize and evaluate values of people from different (ethnical, language, religion) groups, Analyse the cultural diversity with the opportunities and challenges for pedagogy (with the special point of view on the different backgrounds of pupils in the classroom), Act in cultural diverse educational situations through their theoretical and practical knowledge, Build their own concept of interacting in multicultural environment, Appreciate various life experiences as a source for successful multicultural communication.
