Course content
Students will be introduced to the most famous alternative school systems as a source of inspiration for the reform of traditional schools, the principles of alternative concepts and alternative approaches in teaching, and the possibilities of applying them in practice. Clarifying the ideas of the concept of alternative schools. In the course, students will learn to define alternative education, describe the common features and principles of alternative schools and remember a brief history of alternative approaches.

Learning outcomes
1) define alternative education, describe historical development of alternative schools, 2) describe four kinds of Alternative education - Montessori education, Waldorf education, Dalton education, Democratic education, 3) demonstrate and represent tasks and tools that can be used in the given alternative schools, 4) evaluate advantages and disadvantages of each of the schools, 5) create a presentation / essay about one of the alternative schools and include examples of tasks or tools that can be used in the classes. The subject introduce principles and common features of alternative schools and describe principles of each: Montessori education, Waldorf education, Dalton education and Democratic education. Students know the most famous alternative school systems and understand them as a source of inspiration for the reform of traditional schools. They will be able to compare the principles of the alternative school systems and acquire alternative approaches in teaching, develop the ability to apply them in practice.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance, Seminar Work

Prepare a seminar thesis and a presentation on the chosen alternative school concept from your country. Describe the historical aspects of the given alternative approach, the current status and give examples of good practice. The scope of the seminar work is 9000 - 14000 characters, the structure of the work - introduction, main article, conclusion, list of used sources, citation according to APA.
