Course content
<LI> 1. Social pathology. Norm and order in society. Socio-pathological phenomena and social control. The system of social control in our society (external - internal, formal - informal). Anomie of society. <LI> 2. Social deviation - definition, classification. Conformity vs. deviation. Development of traditional views on deviant behavior. Cultural relativism and contemporary relativistic approach to social deviation. Labeling theory. <LI> 3. Deviation theory. Etiology of deviant behavior. Specific forms of deviation (risk behavior, behavioral disorders, pathological addictions). <LI> 4. Prevention - definition, stages. Related terms: intervention, reeducation, resocialization, therapy, repression, etc. Prevention at school, Minimum preventive program, functions of prevention methodology and educational counselor. Cooperation with professional facilities (counseling, diagnostic, leisure, etc.). <LI> 5. Professional support and counseling. Pedagogical-psychological counseling system - school counseling workplace (school prevention methodologist, educational counselor, school psychologist, school special educator, school social educator), school counseling facilities (pedagogical-psychological counseling center, special educational center, educational care center). <LI> 6. Educator and his/her competences for the prevention and intervention of risky behavior (diagnostic, counseling, information, consultation, coordination). <LI> 7. Juvenile delinquency and crime. Definition, etiology, forms. Social and legal anchoring. Prevention, intervention. <LI> 8. Truancy as a specific phenomenon of the school environment. Definition, classification, etiology, intervention, prevention. Legislation on the issue. <LI> 9. Aggression and bullying among children. Definition, classification, etiology, actors. Signs for recognizing bullying, principles for solving bullying, prevention options in the school environment. Cyberbullying as a specific form of bullying. <LI> 10. Drugs and drug addiction as a threat to the life of an individual (child). Causes of experimentation with addictive substances, risk of drug addiction. Analysis of the problem in relation to adolescents. Prevention, professional help.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to develop theoretical knowledge and practical competences in the field of social pathology, to understand the aspects that determine the emergence and development of deviant behavior and theories that shed light on the possible etiology of deviation. It is also intended to strengthen the necessary competences of future educators in relation to risky forms of behavior of school-age children and other target groups, their diagnosis, solution and prevention.
Objectives: After completing the course, students should be able to: <LI> Define the function of social pathology, understand the meaning of norms and order in society and the mission of the institute of social control. <LI> Define the use of social deviance, know the theory of deviance and etiology in the context of contemporary society. <LI> Understand the function of deviance prevention and its role in shaping the personality of an individual. <LI> Be aware of the role and competences of educators and other professionals in the risk behavior of children and adolescents. <LI> Know the main signs, etiology and manifestations of selected forms of risk behavior (in relation to school-age children). <LI> Professionally grasp and analyze a specific case of risk behavior and propose possible professional measures.
Prerequisites
The prerequisite for enrolling in the course is completion of the first-year courses, especially the introduction to social pedagogy.
