Course content
|
The specifics of free time in adulthood and old age. Preparing for retirement. Retiring as a major moment in terms of leisure time of an aging man, the loss of life program and second program of life. Leisure activities of older people and factors affecting their content. Seniors socializing. Seniors´ education as a leisure activity. Clubs for elderly people and other institutions for their leisure time. Planning and design of leisure activities of seniors at the level of a community, village and region. Seniors´ leisure time in social services.

Learning outcomes
|
After completing the course, students should be able to characterize the specifics of leisure time in adulthood and old age, to define and explain the concept of second life program, to clarify the issue of preparation for old age, to describe the factors affecting the way of experiencing free time in adults and in the elderly, to characterize the issue of seniors' education in the context of free time, to propose measures for the elderly free time at the level of separate institutions, community, village and region.
Students will acquire competence to understand the issue of leisure time of adults and seniors and to act in this area.

Prerequisites
|
Basic knowledge of leisure education, developmental psychology, sociology, adult education and geragogy.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Oral exam, Student performance
Design for a single event on leisure time or hobby education of selected target groups of adults or seniors. The project will include the definition of the major and of milestones events, the characteristics of the target group and of the organizer, proposed method of propagation, the description of arrangements (personnel, material, spatial and other requirements), timing and course preparation, guidelines for follow-up evaluation and indicative financial statement. Monitoring and evaluation of individual work will be done before granting the colloquium.
