Course content
|
Upbringing as a special instance, its roles with respect to individuals and the society as a whole. Roles of school, modern schooling, post-modern theories of schooling. Sociological approaches to family as a special social group. Functions of the present-day families, impact of the family on the personality development etc.

Learning outcomes
|
Focusing on family and education from the point of view of sociology.
Student will understand historical, makro and mikrosocial contexts of family and educational institutions. Student will know basic cultural, psychological and bilogical factors of family life and education.

Prerequisites
|
Ability to work with scietific articles and course books. Critical thinking, willingness to debate.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Written exam, Seminar Work
Class attendance and participation. Elaboration of an essay in the extent of 3 standard pages.
