Course content
1. A child at risk within the meaning of Act 359/1999, on the Social and Legal Protection of Children 2. Activities of interest as tools for prevention and intervention in cases of a. threatened by socially pathological phenomena b. threats to the child's upbringing and personal or social development c. family dysfunction or in foster care d. maladaptation to a new social environment e. child offenders or victims of crime 3. the distinction between prevention and intervention programmes. National concepts and strategies for prevention. 4. Integration of prevention and intervention programmes in the framework of social and legal protection of children. a. in the framework of educational measures and supervision b. in social and legal child protection institutions 5. Integration of prevention and intervention programmes in social service establishments 6. Primary prevention programmes, their characteristics, target groups and methods of working with the target group 7. Secondary prevention programmes, their characteristics, target groups and methods of working with the target group 8. Tertiary prevention programmes, their characteristics, target groups and methods of working with the target group 9. Social intervention programmes, their characteristics, target groups and methods of working with the target group 10. Use of the principles of experiential pedagogy 11. Evaluation of programmes and feedback

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, students should be able to: 1. Distinguish between leisure activities in the context of social prevention and intervention 2. Understand in detail the concepts of prevention and intervention and be able to apply theoretical knowledge in the field of prevention and intervention to pedagogical practice 3. Characterise and design a primary prevention programme for a specific target group 4. Characterize and design a secondary prevention program for a specific target group and specific threats 5. Characterise and design a tertiary prevention programme for a specific target group and specific vulnerability 6. Characterise and design an intervention programme for a specific target group/client at specific risk

Prerequisites
The prerequisite for successfully completing the course is basic knowledge of general psychology, psychopathology, developmental psychology, didactics and the theory of leisure education.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance

Developing and defending a project of a preventive or intervention programme for a selected target group of socially vulnerable children.
