Course content
|
The course introduces the preparation and planning of projects in leisure pedagogy. The aim of the course is to introduce students to the basic concepts related to project preparation and planning. We will look at the proper formulation of project goals, project timelines, project budgets, recognizing project risks and setting up ways to prevent them. The course also introduces the implementation and management of educational projects in leisure time. Therefore, another objective is to introduce students to the basic concepts and processes involved in project implementation and management. We will look at assembling and managing a project team, project management, project risk management and control, controlling the achievement of project objectives and deliverables, managing project costs and controlling against project budgets, implementing project changes, project reporting and the project closure process. Interest-based education in the education system. Legislative framework of leisure education. State and non-state organisations and institutions and their contribution to leisure education. Forms of cooperation at municipal, micro-regional, regional, national and international level. Information systems and leisure education. Effectiveness and benefits of good and effective cooperation. In the first part of the course the following topics will be discussed and practiced: 1. definition of a project and other basic concepts of project planning, 2. formulation of project objectives with respect to community planning and cooperation with municipalities, counties and state governments, 3. a project scheme specific to leisure time pedagogy, 4. project timeline (schedule), 5. identification of project risks and setting up ways to prevent them, 6. the project budget. In the second part of the course, the following topics will be discussed and practiced: 1. assembling and managing a project team, 2. project management, 3. managing and controlling project risks, 4. controlling the achievement of project objectives and deliverables, 5. project cost management and control according to the project budget, 6. implementing changes to the project, 7. project reporting and project closure process.

Learning outcomes
|
Upon completion of the course, students should be able to: - plan, create and implement development projects in the field of leisure while respecting the conditions, requirements, content and forms of pedagogical influence of leisure, - describe the social status and needs of leisure education at the levels of institution, municipality, micro-region, region and state as a part of lifelong learning, - integrate leisure institutions into the concepts of development of education, sport, culture, tourism, environmental protection and creation, - to characterise the possibilities of preventing pathological manifestations among children and youth and the possibilities of integrating marginal groups into society in cooperation with the state administration and local government and their impact on the creation of a favourable social climate in the area of competence, - to explain the procedures and principles of designing leisure activities both from the perspective of the basic principles of leisure education and from the perspective of project management, - identify project risks and plan for their prevention, - evaluate leisure projects.

Prerequisites
|
The prerequisite for successful mastering of the subject is the knowledge and skills acquired by completing the courses Pedagogy of Leisure Time, Methodology of Games, as well as competence in general didactics and in the preparation of activities in the field of prevention of socially pathological phenomena and work with children in preventive intervention activities.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Student performance, Analysis of Creative works (Music, Pictorial,Literary)
Developing a project for a larger leisure activity (either ongoing, e.g. once a week for a year, or one-off activities lasting at least 1 week). Preparation for the project defence. Defending the project taking into account the principles of project management.
