Course content
|
1) Definition of sociology of education, subject and methods of sociology of education. 2) Constitution of sociology of education from 19th century to present time. 3) Sociology of education in paradigms: consensus, conflict and interpretative. 4) Socialization - perspectives of sociology, pedagogy and psychology. 5) Sociology of education and social structure, theory of social and cultural reproduction. 6) Sociology of education and children, youth, adults and seniors. 7) Family and gender in education. 8) Post-industrial society and education. Knowledge society.

Learning outcomes
|
The course aims to identify and explore some of the major perspectives in the sociology of education and locate them in relation to the broader traditions within the discipline of sociology. It reviews the contribution of sociology to an understanding of policy and practice within modern educational systems, particularly the relationship to social inequalities (race/ethnicity, class, gender, disabilities) and examines recent studies in sociology of education with particular reference to education policy, curriculum, schools and classrooms.
Students will be able to characterize the social impact on the education system presented sociology of education (most often it is the influence of class, gender effect, the effect of values and culture, ethnicity, etc.)

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Oral exam
Following the lessons, students will be required to study literature and methodical materials, which are known in detail the fundamental questions that relate to issues of sociology of education. Emphasis will be on the study of recommended literature and methodological materials. Students will also analyze selected texts. The prerequisite for the colloquium seminar work.
