Course content
<LI> 1. Topic and choice of research problem. Designing the title of the thesis. <LI> 2. Objective(s) of the thesis, creation of research questions and hypotheses. <LI> 3. Selection and design of the research file. <LI> 4. Structure and division of the thesis. <LI> 5. Searching for professional literature and sources and working with them. Referring to sources according to the valid citation standard. <LI> 6. Creation of a professional text - theoretical parts of the thesis. <LI> 7. Application of knowledge from the methodology of empirical research when writing the thesis. Ethical principles of scientific work. <LI> 8. Formal editing of the thesis in accordance with the standard for editing documents in word processors and with the valid internal regulations of Palacký University Olomouc and the Faculty of Education.

Learning outcomes
The course guides the student towards the successful completion of a diploma thesis as one of the key prerequisites for the successful completion of a master's degree in the Social Pedagogy study program at the Palacky University Olomouc, Faculty of Education. It evaluates knowledge from courses focused on methodology and research in social and pedagogical sciences and leads to the theoretical anchoring of the thesis (completion of at least 30 pages of the theoretical part of the thesis).
After completing it, the student should (be able to): <LI> evaluate and use previous knowledge from subjects focused on writing a thesis and pedagogical research; <LI> have a clear concept of the thesis on which he/she is working; <LI> search for relevant professional literature and sources necessary for the preparation of his/her thesis, be able to work with professional sources in accordance with the citation standard; <LI> create adequate theoretical foundations reflecting the objectives of the work and the chosen methodology; <LI> prepare and carry out preliminary research for the thesis, or the research itself; <LI> move towards completing the thesis.
Prerequisites
The subject is a continuation of the previous subjects Prepaedeutic seminar for diploma thesis and Seminar for diploma thesis 1 and directs the student to the completion of a diploma thesis as one of the key prerequisites for successful completion of the bachelor's studies within the field of Social Pedagogy at Faculty of Education, Palacky University Olomouc. The prerequisite is the assignment of the diploma thesis topic in STAG system, continuous consultation with the supervisor and the direction towards its successful completion.

Assessment methods and criteria
Seminar Work

Semester work - Diploma thesis concept, content structure and its theoretical part. Following the Diploma thesis project, created as part of the Propaedeutic seminar for the diploma thesis in the 1st semester of study, the student clarifies the concept of his/her diploma thesis after a year of work on the topic and consultations with the diploma thesis supervisor. Based on the set goals, research questions and hypotheses for the planned research, he/she creates a content framework for the theoretical part of the diploma thesis and elaborates on the set chapters. The work for the award of credit will contain the following parts: <LI> a) Clarified Diploma Thesis Project as a basis for creating the theoretical part. 1. Diploma thesis title. The title reflects the defined research problem and the main goal of the work. 2. Research goals and questions, hypotheses. The student defines the main research goal, or partial goals, which form the basis for creating research questions. For quantitative research, he/she defines hypotheses or at least variables that he/she wants to monitor and compare within the research. 3. Research set. The student will explain the selection and size of the research file. 4. Research strategy, research tool, analysis method. Outline of the research methodology for the thesis. Scope of this part of the work: min. 1 A4 page, line spacing 1, font 12. <LI> b) Content of the theoretical part of the thesis. <LI> c) Processed theoretical part of the thesis (scope of min. 30 pages in accordance with the formal requirements for writing a thesis). Deadline for submitting the updated concept (project) of the thesis, content and min. 30 pages of the theoretical part: 31. 1. 2025 The student will send the work by e-mail to the subject teacher by the given deadline, or the thesis supervisor will confirm by e-mail that the theoretical part has the given scope and credit can be awarded.
