Learning outcomes

The aim of the sociology of family course is: a) Equip the student with active knowledge of the basic categories of sociology as a science focused on the social nature of human existence at the level of analysis, synthesis, assessment and application. The mentioned categories focus on the description of the social behavior of a person, his environment, institutions or norms, taking into account the family as a key institution and social group. The mentioned acquired categories should be part of the theoretical basis in the course of the following study, to which the contents of other subjects within the Special Education program are linked. b) Present to the student the basic schemes and rules of "so-called sociological thinking", as a specific approach and way of thinking about the social nature of human existence, the structure of society and selected social phenomena. This sociological thinking as a non-evaluative, understanding approach limits the possibility of the creation of maintaining prejudices and stereotypes, develops a tolerant approach to social diversity. c) Through self-study of professional texts, develop the skill of orienting in professional texts.¨ d) Through discussions within the lessons, develop communicative skills, including the skill of leading discussions and arguments.
After completing the course, students will be able to: - actively use a selected set of sociological categories - create their own definitions of these sociological categories based on their own evaluation - describe and explain the relationships between these categories within the relational concept of social reality - argue their own interpretation and definition of selected sociological categories - use methods of examining selected social phenomena.
