Course content
Basic terminology,Pygmalion effect, stigmatization. Mechanisms of social control, socialisation processes disturbances. Social deviations theories. Characterization of risk behaviors, present day situation and effects on the society (aggressive behaviour, criminality, addictions, suicidal behaviour etc). Possible prevention.

Learning outcomes
Becoming familiar with social aspects of deviant behaviour in everyday life, with consequences of problematic behaviour for individuals, families and society. Demonstrate an understanding of the major problems in society, gain knowledge for action in practice.
Student will know basic concepts of social deviations, its aplications and also limits.
Prerequisites
Ability to work with scietific articles/books and course books. Critical thinking, willingness to debate.

Assessment methods and criteria
Mark, Essay, Student performance, Seminar Work

Work (an essay on a selected social deviant phenomenon - the application of theoretical issues of sociology of social deviation and analysis of selected passages from the recommended literature and a case study of one of the areas of problematic behaviour) of at least 4 standard pages(3 different sources of information). Participation in class discussions
