Course content
1. Session: Introduction to the subject and requirements for its fulfilment. Distribution of seminar presentations. Introduction to the region of the Western Balkans, its geography, culture and membership in international organizations. 2. Session: The disintegration of Yugoslavia. Historical background, development, consequences. 3. Session: Guest lecture - Mgr. Vladimir Đorđević, PhD 4. Session: Political systems of Croatia and Montenegro. 5. Session: Political systems of Serbia and Kosovo. 6. Session: Political system of Albania. Film screening. 7. Session: Political systems of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Macedonia.

Learning outcomes
This one-semester course aims to introduce the history, culture and specific aspects of the political systems of the Western Balkan countries. Geographically, the course will focus on all countries of the former Yugoslavia (except for Slovenia) and Albania. It is a block course.
Upon completion of the course, students should gain basic knowledge of the political systems of the Western Balkan countries and provide a critical evaluation. Ability to work with foreign-language academic texts.
Prerequisites
Active knowledge of English. Students should follow and monitor recent developments in the Western Balkans region.

Assessment methods and criteria
Essay

The credit will be granted to those who prepare and subsequently present a PowerPoint presentation on a pre-defined seminar topic. Students should be prepared for each session. Students are allowed a maximum of two absences.
